 ASSISTANT SITE MANAGER OF NAOJ AT OSF/AOS

 

The National Astronomical Observatory of Japan(NAOJ) is an organization in Chile which represents National Institutes of Natural Sciences (NINS) of Japan in the research and development of Astronomy  in Chile.

NAOJ in Chile is responsible to deliver antennas and other equipments to the ALMA Project as a partner of the project.

Position:  

ASSISTANT SITE MANAGER OF NAOJ AT OSF/AOS

 

Job Description:

The successful candidate will report directly to the Site Manager of NAOJ of OSF/AOS, working at OSF, 2900m in altitude.

The Assistant Site Manager of NAOJ at OSF/AOF is responsible for arrangement of all work and communications in the OSF(Operation Support Facility) of ALMA in relation with the work organized by NAOJ for ALMA project under the supervision of the representative of NAOJ at OSF, who will be going to be the Site Manager of NAOJ.

 

Duties include:

- Reports daily activity of NAOJ work to the NAOJ supervisor

- Reports safety summary of NAOJ work to the ALMA safety officer

- Reports daily about the condition for vehicles of NAOJ, and organize maintenance or contact the dealer properly.

- Supports administrative tasks, including accommodating staffs from Japan, preparation of daily consumption.

- Supports transportation of NAOJ staffs around OSF

- Supports NAOJ’s activitiy in contribution to the construction of the site infrastructure of ALMA

- Conducts other tasks as indicated by supervisor including collaborative work with ALMA staffs of OSF

- To guide the visitors from NAOJ and others to the high site of 5000m


Professional Requirements /Qualifications:

The position requires:

- Professional person with management ability up to thirty people mainly from Japan in the OSF

- Over than 7 years of experience in camp operation and supervision, including more than 2 years of experience in working in high altitude facilities

- Physical health compatible with the altitude high conditions

- Good knowledge about site OSF environment and organization

- Very good level of English or Japanese (read/write/oral)

- Full command of Spanish(read/write/oral)

- Understanding multi-culture environment of ALMA project

- Dedicating to the job assigned, as well as his/her own interest, in good communication with supervisor

- Understanding safety regulations of ALMA and the concept of safety management

- Computer knowledge and software user(mail, spreadsheet, word processing)

 

 

 

 

 

Duty Station:
The position is based in ALMA Site, near of San Pedro de Atacama (II region), working in a schedule of 5 x 2
