Senior Accountant for AUI/NRAO

AUI/NRAO seeks applicants for the position of Senior Accountant for its office in Chile.

Description of the position:

The position reports to the AUI/NRAO Chile Fiscal Manager and seeks a strong support of the office's activities in Chile.

Activities:

A. General

• Strong knowledge on generally accepted accounting practices and principles.
• General knowledge of NRAO’s business procedures and policies.

B. Fiscal

• Accounts Payable.
• Accounts Receivable.
• Control of the daily processing of vendor invoices.
• Tracking of all documents received in Santiago and at the OSF.
• Approval of all batches of invoicing and payment processes.
• Maintain the payments schedule: update every time an invoice is received and schedule payments on a periodic (weekly) basis.
• Maintain the cash flow schedule.
• Print checks.
• Support the PO file tracking.
• Make the journal entries into JDE.
• Prepare and submit the periodic VAT reimbursement reports to the Chilean IRS (“SII”).
• Maintain the offices property management file.
• Analysis of accounts.
• Maintain and update files.
• Prepare monthly reports to management.
• Enforce compliance with NRAO´s’ Fiscal policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• Strong background in Accounting/Auditing; Accounting degree is desirable.

• At least 5 years experience in similar activities.

• Computer literacy, especially in the use of MIS tools (JDE or similar).

• English proficiency is desirable; technical English is a must. .

Location:
The position is based mainly in Santiago and will require frequent travel to the ALMA site in Region II, near San Pedro de Atacama. The position requires availability to travel within Chile and abroad.
