Surveyor Helper AUI/NRAO
Under the direct supervision of the Surveyor, the Surveyor Helper will
work closely with the Surveyor, Technical Officer and Draftsman in all
activities on site regarding with field road design, earthwork,
electrical and communications layout and will support the AUI/NRAO Site
Team.
Essential functions:
• Assist in survey measurements
on the ALMA Site at and above 5000 meters above sea level.
• Work on the ALMA Site in
complementary tasks such as staking of roads and building topography
monoliths.
• Measurements with survey
instruments.
• Maintenance of survey
instruments and equipment to keep them in good operating conditions
trained and supervised by the surveyor.
• Transportation of survey
materials for survey works on high geographical altitude areas.
• Help draft and surve y
monographs of relevant information of the site.
• Control of established
maintenance schedules of the vehicles working for the NA Site IPT.
• Proactive compliance with
NRAO/ALMA safety policies and procedures in own work area is expected.
Required Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities:
• Basic notions and concepts of
surveying
• Operation of survey instruments
• Basic use of the AUTOCAD
Software
Additional Requirements:
• Not less than 1 year of
experience in technical engineering survey work.
• Must be physically capable of
safely operating vehicles, possess a valid driver's license and have an
acceptable driving record.
• Approve the high altitude
medical examination for work at 5000 m.a.s.l.
• Must be able to carry heavy
surveying equipment at high geographical altitude sites.
Work Conditions:
• 10x5 shifts with lodging
provided at the ALMA Site.
